Executive Bios — Linda S. Cook
Linda Cook is Vice President of Quality & Lean Enterprise for EMS Defense & Space Systems. Appointed in 2005, Cook is responsible for Business Process Improvement and Lean Implementation, Process Certification/Training, Metric Development, Data Management, and Product Assurance.
From 2002 to 2005, Cook served as Vice President of Engineering for EMS D&SS, where she determined engineering priorities based on customer and program requirements. Cook was responsible for development and supervision of over 60 engineers and administered all engineering disciplines including Electrical, Antenna, Mechanical and Microwave.
From 2001 to 2002, Cook served as Vice President of AEHF Projects, where she led EMS’ efforts to provide key components of the Advanced Extremely High Frequency payload hardware. After negotiation and award of the $22 million AEHF BFN contract, Cook oversaw all aspects of staffing and equipment procurement during program ramp-up. She successfully managed AEHF costs and schedule deadlines, securing awards of delivery incentives.
From 1998 to 2001, Cook worked in the EMS Wireless business unit where she was appointed Director of Engineering. Cook closely monitored department priorities and direction, and aligned the engineering and manufacturing operations to improve efficiency and support division revenue goals.
Prior to that, Cook spent 7 years managing programs in the Space division at EMS, including MILSTAR CAB. Produced under significant budget and schedule pressures, the successful effort received numerous commendations from customers throughout the MILSTAR community. Cook was recognized for “superb leadership and commitment to excellence” by key partners, including TRW and Lockheed Martin.
Cook joined EMS in 1984 and spent her early years with the company as a Quality Engineer, becoming a knowledgeable resource regarding hardware usage, testing, functionality and support.
Cook’s professional affiliations include Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE), American Electronics Association (AEA), National Association for Female Executives (NAFE) and Georgia 100 Association Leadership Program.
She earned a Bachelor of Science in Physics, magna cum laude from Georgia State University, where she also served as a laboratory instructor, graduate research assistant and member of Sigma Pi Sigma (the National Physics Honor Society). Cook has completed the Georgia Institute of Technology’s Technology Management course.
